We take the impact on our people and planet very seriously and we make sure that every step of our journey is taken with environmental care. but just as importantly, we are aware that the fashion industry as a whole is causing a huge impact on our environment, especially ‘Disposable Fashion’ otherwise known as ‘Fast fashion’.
We are not just in the fashion business, we are in the business of comfort & lifestyle and that is why it is important for us to get our message across to our consumers - we want garments to be produced to high quality standards and not garments that you need to update every season, or throw away and buy more of. Quality is what helps our environment.
According to a survey conducted by ‘Fashion Revolution’, us Brits spent £3.5bn on Christmas party fashion alone last year. How much of that has ended up thrown away or sat in a cupboard somewhere unlikely to be worn again? 8 million items is the figure that will go to landfill after just one wear! Shocking news we know but what is also just as shocking (if not more), is that this entire disposable system of things in fashion creates 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year!
‘Fast fashion’ is known for its single digits price tag. It’s quickly manufactured, quickly worn and quickly thrown away.
WaveMe, wants it’s consumers to take pride in their garments, to understand that it is a lifestyle choice of not over-indulgence but quality. A statement that you care and promote a balanced lifestyle.
We urge all our customers to remind themselves that this is a brand that will not date. It can’t possibly date when the ethics and moral of the story is that it is NOT about changing your garments regularly. It’s taking control of a situation that is escalating for all the wrong reasons. Why are people so interested in impressing others with all the latest trends, rather than being in quality comfort and spending their time in present time, focusing on the things that matter in life?
